Hello Readers! Welcome to Young with MS. I started this website so that young people such as myself that have been diagnosed with whether it be recently or people that have been living with the disease for several years. Let me tell you about me. My name is Jennifer and I am a female from Virginia. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December of 2007, I was 23 at the time. When the doctor told me that I had multiple sclerosis I was floored. I couldn’t believe how someone my age could have something so bad. At the time of diagnosis I didn’t know anything about the disease and how it would affect my day to day life. I was scared. When I went to visit my neurologist for the very first time to discuss treatment I had no idea what he would say. When I found out that I would have to give the injections myself I kind of clinched up. It made me nervous. Once I got over the initial shock and worry of the disease I was ok. Of course, Everyone goes through that period where they ask why and blame themselves and truth be told I think I might have done it more than anyone else. I have now been on my injections since January 2008 and I am doing really well. Although I sometimes have my periods of anxiety and nervousness, I know that I have a wonderful family that supports me and is there for me. I also have wonderful doctors that I know that if I have any questions all I have to do is pick up the phone. Having people that you can talk to and share your feelings and your thoughts and even share the things that help you manage your symptoms better. I wanted to start this website for that reason. I wanted to be able to share my experiences with you, and I want them to be able to share their experiences with me. So that is what this site is for. I encourage everyone to write about anything you want. This page is here to share your thoughts and feelings and being a young adult with Multiple Sclerosis. Sometimes just being able to share your feelings is a huge stress relief. I hope that everyone enjoys this site as much as I do. I look forward to hearing from other young people (of course the ‘older’ veterans are welcome too) my age and sharing my experiences and thoughts and hearing yours. Well it has been a little over 2 yrs since we have started the website and I owe alot of the credit of its success to my wonderful and loving Dad. He and my mother have been there for me every step of the way. They love me just the same as they would even if I didn’t have MS. They are my biggest supporters and fans. Summer of 2009 I went on my first mission trip and they were there every step to help get me ready to go and they called and wrote me the whole time I was gone. Having a big support surround you wether it be at home-school-church-work-friends-family anything is very important.I am now 25 yrs old about to be 26 and doing geat. Having GOD match me step for step during this journey has been a blessing. He has been my rock and my salvation. I hope that everyone finds inspiration and comfort in this site. I want MS patients and their families to be able to write about anything they want. I would love to hear from you. Take Care and Many Blessings.
Thank you, Jennifer
