05 OctRelaxation

Today I wanted to write about relaxation because everyone even those who don’t have MS like to relax. I know that for me sometimes a hot bath relaxes me but other times maybe it is a power nap or music. Everyone has their own ways of relaxing but here are some cool things that I have found. The first thing that I found was Meditation. Many types of meditation have shown to reduce anxiety. Research currently shows that mindfulness meditation can actually change your brain with regular practice. Meditation boosts activity on the left side of the prefrontal cortex of the brain that is responsible for joy and serenity and lets face it everyone needs some joy and serenity. The second thing that I found was Progressive Muscle Relaxation. When your feel your anxiety taking hold of you relaxing your muscles can help you a great deal. The reason for this is because when your body and muscles are relaxed and at ease then in turn your mind can relax and you can be at peace. The last thing that I found was Deep Breathing. When the human body is anxious your breath faster. A Lot of people then tend to hyperventilate and make themselves sick. But breathing deeply from your diaphragm can stop these symptoms and you will in turn calm down and relax.  A lot of times in today’s world everyone forgets to relax and take a deep breath. I feel that everyone should set aside time for yourself to re-energize and refresh themselves. Because when you are relaxed and worry-free your day and everything will be a lot smoother. But if you don’t take the time out for yourself to do these things and to get to a serene place then that’s when the anxiety and worry come into play. Until next time thank you for reading.
